Penner-Ash Viognie

Most of us are thankful that summery weather has lingered a little longer, refusing to give way to winter just yet.

An ideal Indian Summer Wine, another beauty from Penner-Ash in the Willamette Valley,  is this Viognier you’re sure to fall for. Quickly.

This bottling boasts nectarine, melon, and peach, with a deep, round texture. Hints of citrus add a zippy quality, brightening up the palate. There is the tiniest bit of residual sugar which just plays at adding some sweetness, and adds a layer of intrigue. With a soft, lingering finish featuring exotic fruit and white peach, the experience carries far along the palate.

Viognier can play nicely with hard-to-pair spices, so if you’ve got a dish for which you’ve been struggling to find a companion, this may be the one. It definitely has a solid body, so it will do best with a robust dish, perhaps even a cream sauce.
