ATHENS – The Fire Department announced on Oct. 26 that it concluded damage inspections to all households which were flood-stricken during the heavy rains of the last few days.
A total of 580 houses and 168 vehicles in 25 differenent municipalities were affected, according to the Fire Department’s findings. This information has been promptly forwarded to all affected local administrations, so as to facilitate the grant of emergency financial assistance to beneficiary flood-stricken households.
Flood damages were recorded in the following municipalities: Aghii Anarghyri-Kamatero, Aghia Varvara, (central) Athens, Egaleo, Maroussi, Aspropyrgos, Acharnes, Galatsi, Dionysos, Drapetsona-Keratsini, Elefsina, Ilion, Korydallos, Metamorphosis, Mandra, Megara, Nea Ionia, Nea Philadelphia-Chalkidona, Nikea-Aghios Ioannis Rentis, Piraeus, Peristeri, Petroupoli, Salamina island, Chaidari and Chalandri.
Earlier, Labour, Social Security and Welfare Deputy Minister Vassilis Kegeroglou announced that the State will provide an emergency financial assistance amounting to 586.94 euros per flood-stricken household, for the immediate relief of those affected by heavy rainfall in the last few days.
Kegeroglou also decided that the State will financially assist every flood-stricken household with a subsidy ranging from 1,174 to 5,869 euros, for damage restoration caused by the floods to houses and their contents.
According to the deputy minister, the funds necessary for the compensation of the flood-stricken households will be transferred immediately to the local administration authorities, in order to be distributed to the beneficiary households.
