Atromitos handed Thessaloniki’s PAOK’s a 1-0 loss in the Greek Super League soccer play on June 4, leaving the battle for second in tourney play undecided.
Atromitos, which plays in the Athens neighborhood of Peristeri, climbed into second a point ahead of PAOK, which suffered its third straight defeat. A goal by Tasos Karamanos at the end of the first half held up.
In the day’s other game, Panathinaikos and Asteras Tripolis drew 0-0. Stathis Tavlaridis left Panathinaikos with 10 men in injury time, trying to get a red card and a one-game suspension instead of bigger penalties because he has racked up so many yellow cards this season.
Panathinaikos has 15 points, Asteras is second with seven, Atromitos is on five and PAOK is last with four.
In the final round of games on June 8 Atromitos hosts Panathinaikos and Asteras plays PAOK where the winner will get second in the playoffs..
