Spring is a perfectly good time of year to drink Single Malt Scotch, neat (no water or ice), with maybe the subtlest hint of water (a drop or two, literally) to release the flavors and aromas.

For those who like a little more oomph to their Scotch but cannot handle the full peatiness of an Ardbeg or a Laphroaig, a great introduction to the peaty aspects of Scotch is Springbank.

At 92 proof, it certainly packs a punch, and its wide range of flavor makes it appealing across a variety of palettes.

You’ll be hard-pressed to find this bottle – even in the 10-year-old version – which is perfectly fine – for less than $50, even outside New York or other big cities, but it’s well worth keeping a bottle on hand for special occasions.
