According to an announcement by senior army officer, ffourteen suspected FARC guerrillas were killed in Colombian army conflicts during the weekend in the northwestern part of the country.
General Juan Pablo Rodriguez during a press conference in Bogota stated that: “Until yesterday (Sunday) 13 victims (rebels) were counted and today one more was added”.
This blow against the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) is noted one day before the resumption of peace talks between the rebels and the Colombian government in Cuba by the end of 2012.
The fighting between the rebels and the army have occurred “in the context of an ongoing operation against the Northwest block of FARC», continued Rodriguez.
