The Chief of the General Staff of the British Armed Forces, General Sir Nicholas Houghton, is on an official visit to Greece at the invitation of the Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Michael Kostarakos.

This visit comes as a confirmation of the excellent relations between Greek and British Armed Forces and the close cooperation between the two countries in NATO.

On Wednesday, July 16, General Sir Houghton laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, to show that he honors and respects the Greek men and women who lost their lives in the line of duty. Later he met with the Minister of National Defence Mr. Dimitris Avramopoulos and had meetings at the Hellenic National Defence General Staff headquarters.
