During the summit in Brussels, European Union leaders agreed to increase sanctions against Russia due to its continued support for separatists.
The European Union leaders agreed to expand sanctions against Russia and country’s companies signaling a growing Western concern over Russia’s continued support for separatists. EU will also examine the possibility to impose sanctions on companies and individuals that are benefiting from or being used to support the unrest in eastern Ukraine
Moreover, EU leaders decided to ask European Investment Bank and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to suspend loans and any projects undertaken by Russia, according to the statement issued following the end of EU Summit.
A little earlier, U.S. also announced new expanded sanctions against Russia.
