This is a run that will have you seeing rainbows everywhere. Called the “Xroma Run,” this 5-kilometer track is being held in Herakleion, Crete for the first time with a mission to celebrate everyone’s right to athleticism. The event functions as a fun get together, and partial proceeds benefit non-profit efforts. A music party featuring a guest DJ also was planned alongside the run, May 3rd.
So what’s in these colors, you may ask. The Xroma Run’s organizers say these ultra bright pigments are save for use, made of corn flour and nontoxic food dyes. Participation cost is set at 7 euro per runner for the first 500 runners, and 10 euro thereafter. This includes access to the event, an official t-shirt, participation number, commemorative handmade metal, and one to two bags of color!
Inspired by similar runs in Europe, and perhaps even the famous and colorful “alevromoutzouroma” of Galaxidi, the Herakleion Xroma Run was a memorable and highly artistic event.
