Now it’s time to get to work, as newly appointed Greek Prime Ministers say after the their cabinets take the oath of office.

Work, as we say, in the Diaspora, everywhere and in every field, with imagination and passion.

And work in our church, whose waters have been stagnant for some time. Things can’ t continue this year as they did in the previous one, can they?

On September the 1st , the first day of the ecclesiastical year, churchmen gathered at the Ecumenical Patriarchate in the Phanar, like they do every year.

It is an opportunity – beyond the services that are celebrated – to take stock anew of the situations facing the Patriarchate, with an emphasis on its responsibility for its provinces around the world.

What is working properly, what is not, and why?

Based on the conclusions they draw, the next phase is and should be to determine what needs to be done and in what time frame.

I have no doubt that the Patriarch follows the situation in the churches under its direct jurisdiction very closely.

And he does not need me or anyone else to tell him that time waits for no man.
