NICOSIA – Defence Minister Panos Kammenos is due in Cyprus on Wednesday for a two-day official visit and meetings with the state, military and religious leadership of the island.
The Greek minister is due to arrive at 10:00 in the morning and will be met by Cyprus Defence Minister Christoforos Fokaides during an official welcoming ceremony at the Cyprus National Guard General Staff.
After a meeting between the two ministers, followed by a meeting between the Greek and Cypriot delegations, there will be brief statements to the press.
On Wednesday evening, Kammenos will visit the cemetery where fighters for Cyprus’ liberation from the British were interred (Fylakismena Mnimata) and will then have meetings with the Cyprus Parliament Speaker Ioannis Omirou and the Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostomos. In the evening he will attend an offficial dinner given in his honour by the Cypriot defence minister.
On Thursday, the minister will visit the Tomb of Makedonitissa war memorial, where he will lay a wreath, and take part in a meeting on the Cyprus missing with the defence minister before his departure.
