STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – John Kambakakis, the 63 year old Dongan Hills, Staten Island  resident who was missing since January 28, has been found in Daytona Beach Florida. Police report that he “appears to be in good health.”

Kambakakis was found 10 days after he was last seen at a Hinch’s Diner on Fifth Avenue in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn.

“Investigators had been exploring whether Kambakakis’ disappearance had any connection to the Super Bowl pools he ran at Staten Island University Hospital, where he was a longtime employee until his retirement last year,” according to

The NYPD communicated with The National Herald and indicated that “He was located in Florida on February 7, 2015 as the result of continued investigation.  There are no charges against him.”

In response to TNH’s follow-up email, NYPD’s representative said there is no investigation of any connection with Kamabakakis’ operation of the football pool.

“It’s believed that he had just collected a large sum of money from his pools just days before last Sunday’s Super Bowl, when he vanished,” reported.
