WASHINGTON, DC – Investigators continue to try to make sense out of a fire on May 14 that took the lives of four people, Greek-American Savas Savopoulos, CEO of American Ironworks, his wife, Amy, and two others, one believed to be their 1o-year-old son, Philip, and a housekeeper Veralicia Figueroa, the Washington Post reported. The police have deemed all four deaths to be homicides. ABC news reported speculation that the victims were killed before the fire was set.

New developments include statements by another housekeeper, Nelitza Gutierrez, who was supposed to clean the Savopoulos home on the morning of the quadruple homicide. She said Savopoulos had told her the day before, in person, that he and Amy were going out that evening, but later in a voicemail said his wife had been sick in bed all day, the Post reported.  Gutierrez said in the voicemail, Savopoulos also stated that Figueroa would be staying at the home that night (May 13) but asked that Gutierrez inform Figueroa’s family, because Figueroa’s cell phone battery had died.

The fire at Savopoulos’ home, in the prestigious NW district of Washington, close to the residence of Vice President Joe Biden, is mysterious, the Mail Reported. Among other things, a housekeeper scheduled to work there received a text message from Savopoulos’ wife, Amy, earlier in the day stating the the “family is sick” and for her not to go over that day. “You can come Monday, or any other day, but not today,” said the text, the Mail reported.

“It was something very suspicious because I felt his voice was really tense” on the voicemail, Gutierrez said, the Post reported, “and it was different than what he had said to me before.”

The police are asking for information regarding a blue 2008 Porsche with DC plates, CNN reported, which DC Police Chief Cathy Lanier said left the home the morning of May 14 and was found abandoned in the late afternoon. They have also released footage of a man wearing a hoodie, running from the scene, believed to be linked to driving the Porsche away.

Savopoulos lived in the home with his wife, 10-year-old son, Philip, and two housekeepers, the Daily Mail reported. The couple’s two teenage daughters, Abigail and Katerina, were away at boarding school.
