BAY SHORE, N.Y. — Police on eastern Long Island have identified a woman whose partially dismembered body was found in a municipal parking lot and have arrested a woman in connection with the death.

Suffolk County homicide detectives have charged 42-year-old Leah Cuevas of Brooklyn with second degree murder in the death of Chinelle Latoya Thompson Browne, also of Brooklyn. Police say the two have the same address but did not indicate how they are connected.

Cuevas is being held overnight and will be arraigned in Central Islip district court.

The remains were found July 8 in a parking lot near Bay Shore’s busy downtown business district. It’s about a half-mile from the Fire Island ferry terminal.
