The US President dismisses the version that the aircraft crashed of a rocket from the Ukrainian Army while added that “Only specific anti-aircraft systems can shoot down an aircraft and those are in Russia”
24 hours after the air disaster finds hundreds of families in mourning which lost loved ones in the fatal Malaysian Airline MH17 flight of the Boeing 777 in eastern Ukraine.
The U.S. president, Barack Obama, spoke of the AIRCRAFTS shooting down.
President Obama said on Friday that the Malaysia Airlines plane carrying nearly 300 people, including one U.S. citizen, was evidently shot down by an antiaircraft missile fired from an area controlled by pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine.
Men, women, children, infants who had no connection with the crisis in Ukraine died, said the U.S. president and released the identity of the American passenger that was killed.
“Quinn Lucas Sansman killed and prayers are with his family,” adding that he spoke with the leaders of Malaysia and Ukraine for the incredible tragedy.
“This is not the first aircraft is shot down, and another aircraft and a helicopter shot down in recent weeks,” added Obama, speaking about “global tragedy.”
He pointed out that there must be a thorough investigation and urged Russians and pro-Russian Ukrainians to agree ceasefire as researchers should be at the point of tragedy. He in fact stated that the U.S. would provide whatever assistance is necessary and added that it would continue to liaise with the leaders of countries.
The US president has offered “all possible assistance immediately” in order to figure out what happened and Poroshenko “welcomed the assistance of international investigators to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation of the crash site” .
“The presidents emphasized that all evidence from the crash site must remain in place on the territory of Ukraine until international investigators are able to examine all aspects of the tragedy,” the White House said.
That amounted to a warning to Ukrainian separatists who control the area – as well as to their patrons in Moscow – to ensure that critical evidence not disappear, either through looting or by willful tampering to conceal who was behind the tragedy.
During the press conference in the White House Obama delivered a warning to Russia for the deaths by saying that the separatists “have received a steady flow of support from Russia,” including heavy arms, training and antiaircraft weapons. Pointing to rebel claims to have shot down several Ukrainian aircraft in recent weeks, including a Ukrainian fighter jet, Obama said it was “not possible for these separatists to function the way they’re functioning . . . without sophisticated equipment and sophisticated training, and that is coming from Russia.”
