U.S. President seems ultimately unable to catch the pulse of developments, at least in terms of communicating with the average American citizen. He keeps falling into blunders. The latter being the one in Austin Texas, which developed into a major “hot” issue for the local social networks.
In one of the most legendary U.S. fast food’s “Franklin’s BBQ joint” in Austin ,a shop of its famous burgers, but mainly for the huge queues at checkouts created daily by hundreds of customers who parade through the shop to get their order, sometimes for over 3 hours, a man on Tuesday dared to break the tradition and jumped the queue to order food first.
This man was none other than U.S. President Barack Obama, who was in Texas for a mini tour and meetings with local stakeholders and knowing the reputation of the burgers of Franklin’s rushed to the store to get some food for him and for his entourage and his personal presidential aircraft Air Force One.
While entering the shop he saw the queue and without a thought he passed to the front, leaving even the shop owner Aaron Franklin surprised to the point that he said to the President that no one has ever dared to get ahead in the queue and how may the first be the U.S. President to do something “unheard of …”!
Obama seemed startled but admitted that the queue was long and justified that his time was limited and said he felt very bad that we had to skip the queue. Then, obviously still upset, tried to make jokes with the staff and customers, ordered food worth $ 300 and even offered to pay and the bill of a father and daughter who were the last customers to order before he “swoop” the checkout.
But it didn’t end there. When the order was prepared Obama pulled from his pocket a small stack of money but not enough to fill the bill as it was all the notes of one dollar. He asked to pay by credit card, a black card collectible by JPMorgan bank, the likes of its had never been used in this shop in Texas …
Eventually the order was paid and the President left the shop, but the sequel was given though social media and especially on Twitter, where most users commented of Obama for the fact that he didn’t wait in the queue.
