PIRAEUS, Greece – Olympiakos played poorly but just good enough to beat the Spanish team Laboral Kutxa 63-57 in European League play on Oct. 24.
Both sides shot bricks, hitting only a combined 43-of-121 from the field in a lackluster performance that came as Olympiakos is still looking for a new coach.
The Reds jumped out to big 24-12 lead over the Spanish team in the first period but saw it closed to just four, 30-26, at the half.
Behind strong rebound, the visitors took a 43-40 lead in the third before Olympiakos came back to end the period ahead by 48-45.
In the last period, with both teams shooting poorly, Laboral got within one point (56-55), but Olympiakos scored seven points in a row to put it away in front of 5,000 fans.
Belgian-American Matt Lojeski was the top scorer for Olympiakos with 15 points.
