A justice ministry bill entitled “Regulations of the Penal and Correctional Code and other measures” was passed in principle, on the articles and in total by the 1st summer session of the Greek Parliament on Tuesday.

In a roll-call vote requested by main opposition SYRIZA, the bill was passed in principle and in its entirety with 52 votes in favour and 48 against (out of 100 MPs voting in total).

Article 1 dealing with the terms and conditions for inmates in high-security prisons was passed by 56 MPs in favour and 44 MPs against. The remaining articles were also passed by majority vote.
