In a statement following the government’s decision on Saturday for the civil mobilization of PPC employees and the requisition of their services, PASOK party noted that “the decision for the citizen mobilization of PPC employees, who were on strike, was hard but necessary for the preservation of public interest and the protection of society, the economy, the businesses and tourism”.

“Since union leaderships of PPC employees do not comply with the court decisions, who ruled the PPC strike illegal and abusive, the government cannot become a spectator, across the immense social and economic consequences from the blackouts”, stressed PASOK adding that electricity is a social good and its seamless supply in Greek society is everyone’s fundamental obligation.

Moreover, PASOK underlined that “No one today can hold the citizens and working population hostages, through extreme decisions and practices” and added that “the reforms and big changes in significant sectors of the economy such as energy, must be completed boldly, to the benefit of the country, the national economy and the Greek people”.
