WASHINGTON, DC – Father Alex Karloutsos of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church of the Hamptons, as he has done for the past 29 years, since Ronald Reagan was president, along with other members, of the Greek-American community, and Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis, who is visiting from Athens, attended a White House reception on April 16, hosted by President Barack Obama.

Vice President Joe Biden was also in attendance.

“It’s a great privilege and honor because you see the greatness of the country, Karloutsos said, East 27 News reported. “It’s been a blessing for me and my community.”

Archbishop Demetrios joined the president and vice president, and spoke about violence in Africa and the Middle East, the News reported.

The attendees, which included TNH Publisher-Editor Antonis H. Diamataris, also featured Greek-American actor John Stamos.

Karloutsos, who had a closed session meeting with Obama, the News reported, said the president “offered great hospitality. The president was very, very warm. He’s the perfect host. So when people are in the house, he makes people very, very…comfortable.”
