MINSK, Belarus — Pro-Russian rebels say on their Twitter that they have signed a cease-fire deal with Ukraine that starts on Sept. 5.

The announcement comes as representatives of Ukraine, Russia, pro-Russian rebels and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe were meeting in the Belarusian capital of Minsk.

The rebels tweeted that the deal would start at 1500 GMT (11 a.m. EDT).

There was no immediate confirmation of the rebel statement by the Ukrainian government.
