The festival that aspires to become an institution and give color to our summers with melodies of passionate riffs, through songs and stories that the lonely bluesmen will be sharing with us, will take place in the historic center of Athens on the 22nd and 23rd of July.
Blues is the music of Africa, adapted to the mosaic of musical traditions of white masters in the plantations of south American. Originally sprang through gospel and spiritual music, while the church was for them the first cell of their free expression. Another big part was the collective work songs and hollers of solitary commercial planting to start being implemented in what was called country blues after the American civil War in 1865.
The blues have durability and are proved to be long-lasting. They seem to adapt to modern reality while preserving the magic power of their lyrics.
On Tuesday the 22nd of July the scene of the Stage Volume 1 will stage Tom Attah, John Crampton, The Blue Matter and Daddy’s Work Blues Band, and on Wednesday, the 23rd Diz Watson, the Blues Cargo together with Limpin Express and Blues Therapy Band.
