The Greek Minister of Health, Mr. Makis Voridis, heart surgeon Mr. Anthony Tsouka of the “Evangelismos” hospital, accused of bribery and extortion of 67 year old deceased Dimitri Papadopoulo and his family, as demanded 1,500 euro to operate on him.
The surgeon last Tuesday was referred by the Board of Directors of the hospital before the Disciplinary Council of the1st Health Region.
The doctor will be checked for disciplinary offenses of “obtaining financial benefit or consideration to the benefit of that in the exercise of his duties” (Article 107, per.1d, Law 4057/12) and “undignified or improper or unworthy employee conduct in-service “(Article 107, approx 1e, Law 4057/12).
The maximum penalties that can be imposed by the Disciplinary RAL being reprimanded, are 10 months earnings deprivation and 2-year evolution deprivation.
At next week’s meeting the Appellate Disciplinary Body is expected to refer the case to the Central Disciplinary Board of the ministry.
