Domaine de la Mordoree Cotes du Rhone 2013

Each selection I’ve tasted from this particular Rhone producer has really impressed me, and their Cotes du Rhone keeps the streak going.

Made from Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Carignan, and Mourvedre, this is a medium bodied selection with bright, ripe fruit flavors that are complimented by some dusty, earthy secondary flavors. Though a young wine – most Cotes du Rhones you’ll find on the shelf are not 2013 – I think this is showing nicely already, and its freshness boosts the fruit.

This wine would be quite tasty next to well-seasoned, grilled-to-perfection, lamb lollipops with parsley, souvlaki, and tzatziki.
