2013 Pikes Hills and Valleys Riesling
Those who dislike sweet wines may be quick to brush aside a Riesling, but the spectrum of Rieslings runs from very, very sweet, to extremely dry. This value driven bottle is on the latter end of the spectrum.
This wine comes from down under in South Australia’s Clare Valley. Pikes is a talented producer, and their Hills and Valleys Riesling is a great example of their work. Fermented entirely in stainless steel and crafted in a dry style, this Riesling is driven by minerality and bracing acidity. Citrus zest and exotic fruits mingle on a lengthy palate with a crisp finish.
Pair this with something spicy, or with oily fish and charcuterie.
